Ways you can honor Coralie's memory:
Coralie (Thorpe) Cahill
1943 - 2022
Coralie M. (Thorpe) Cahill, age 79, of Palm Beach Gardens, beloved wife of Patrick Joseph Cahill, Jr. for 58 years, entered into eternal life peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
In addition to her loving husband, her memory will be cherished by her children Christine Cahill D’Ascenzo and her husband, Victor, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Laura Ann Cahill of Riviera Beach, and Diane Cahill Avonda and her husband, Peter, of Jupiter; her grandchildren Katherine D’Ascenzo Fuller, and her husband Peter, Victor J. D’Ascenzo, and his fiancé, Samantha Entwistle, Grace Avonda, and Celeste Cahill.
The daughter of the late Clifton R. Thorpe and Mary Karlick Thorpe, Coralie was born on January 19, 1943, and grew up in Mount Vernon, NY. After graduating from high school, Coralie enrolled in Westchester Community College where she earned an associate degree and met the love of her life. She began working as a lab technician at Cross County Hospital in Yonkers, NY. Coralie married Joseph in 1964 and shortly thereafter moved to Mahopac, NY where they raised a family. She loved being a mom and cherished time with her three girls. Whether it was being a girl scout leader, sewing dance costumes, planning family outings, or organizing endless carpools, she devoted herself to her family. Coralie’s great love for animals meant her home was never without four-legged friends. When her children were older, Coralie returned to Westchester Community College, obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing and became licensed as a Registered Nurse. After working at local hospitals, she found her love of geriatric nursing and soon began working in Somers Manor Nursing Home, where she touched many lives. Coralie’s gentleness, kindness, and compassion were the threads of her personal and professional life every single day.
More than anything else, Coralie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She always loved to snuggle and read bedtime stories, swing on the swings at the park, build sandcastles at the beach, and visit zoos and aquariums. Coralie could always be found cheering loudly at her children and grandchildren’s music, dance, theater, and sporting events. Nothing compared to the love she had for her husband, children, and grandchildren, evidenced by the selflessness and generosity she showed them every day. She and Joe split time between Norwalk, CT and Singer Island to spend time with the whole family.
Coralie’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at La Posada and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Hospice for their compassionate care and Ruth Grant, Sandra Thompson, and Verlande (Vicky) Lafrance for their special attention.
Coralie will be remembered for her kindness to others and animals, her strong faith in God, and her love of family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Coralie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 10970 Jack Nicklaus Drive, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A luncheon gathering for family and friends will immediately follow the Mass in St. Joseph’s Hall at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home of West Palm Beach.
