Edmond F. "Ed" Furey, Jr., 94, of North Palm Beach, passed away on September 1, 2021. Ed was born on July 31, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio. A graduate of the University of Detroit, he was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, and a proud veteran. He and his son, Ed, III, were able to participate in a Southeast Honor Flight Mission. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Barrett, who then became Dorothy Furey, and they were able to celebrate 60 years of marriage together until her death in 2013. Ed's family was his greatest joy! He was blessed and loved by eight children, 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. A well-known resident of the Village of North Palm Beach since 1959, Ed was long-time, and faithful parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church; a frequent blood donor; and a long-time, die-hard fan of Miami Hurricanes football. He was a friend to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path, and always had a story to share. Preceded in death by his wife, Dot in 2013; daughter, Terri, in 2009; and son, Bobby, in 2020, Ed is survived by his children and their families, Judi (Jim) Walker, Ed, III (Tracy) Furey, Beth (Joe) Adams, Sue (Mike) Basen, Ann Furey, and Michael (Janet) Furey. A private funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clare Catholic Church, with his good friend, Rev. Fr. William D. O'Shea, presiding, and interment following at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) A Memorial Mass for the public will be held at a later date.
