James "Jim" Bleacher

May 1, 1943 – December 13, 2024

James “Jim” Bleacher, 81, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024 in Lake Worth, FL. Born on May 1, 1943, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jim spent much of his life in Pennsylvania before retiring to Florida. His love of the Pennsylvania mountains never left him though.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Elvin and Florence Bleacher and his sister, Juanita Bleacher. Jim is survived by his wife, Susan Bleacher; his children, James (Heather) Bleacher, Jodi (Gary) Rader, and J. Shawn (Karen) Bleacher; his nine grandchildren, including Aubri Schilf; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack (Gwen) Bleacher and Judy (William) Metzler.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Jim worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light for 32.5 years and later served as a Pennsylvania State Constable for the 6th Ward for 10 years. He was known for his love of history and his joy in sharing knowledge with others, whether it was about coin collecting, oil lanterns, or hunting. Jim also had a deep love for animals and will be sorely missed by his two loyal dogs, Missy and Brownie, who were always by his side waiting for a treat.

Jim received the gift of life through a liver transplant eight years ago, and his family encourages others to honor his memory by ensuring they are registered organ donors. Donations may also be made to Caring Hands Village, a source of support for Jim and his family during his medical journey (https://caringhandsvillage.org).

A service will be held on December 30, 2024, at 2:15 p.m. at the South Florida National Cemetery.

Jim will be remembered by all for his warmth, integrity, and dedication to family and friends.
