Ways you can honor Janet's memory:
Janet McCarron passed away on July 29, 2022, in her home in Palm Beach Gardens.
Janet was born in North Tonawanda, New York, on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1930, daughter of Harry Charles and Anna Elizabeth Byrne Luther. She was a 1948 graduate of Tonawanda High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from New York State College for Teachers at Buffalo in 1952, where she was a member of Sigma Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.
Music has always been an important part of her life. She taught piano lessons to young children in Tonawanda while attending college. In her retirement, she enjoyed being the accompanist for “The Gladnotes”, a group of seniors who entertained at nursing homes in the North Palm Beach area. Up until her final hours, Janet continued entertaining her friends and fellow residents of Brookdale with joyful playing and daily sing-alongs.
Janet was an elementary teacher at Highland School in Tonawanda, New York, for eight years. She married William D. McCarron in 1957 and moved to Lancaster, New York. They had two sons, Michael D., and Kevin D. McCarron. In 1967, the family moved to North Palm Beach, Florida, where Janet eventually became a teacher at Allamanda Elementary School.
Janet is survived by her two sons, Michael D. McCarron (Susan) and Kevin D. McCarron (Karrin), and her brother Donald H. Luther. She truly enjoyed being “Grandma” to Riley, Maxwell, Molly, and Colin McCarron.
Janet has always taken pride in her heritage – German from her father, and Irish from her mother. Throughout her life, St. Patrick’s Day was the highlight of her year, and she enjoyed entertaining friends for many decades at her annual St. Patrick’s Day party each March 17th.
Janet was a long-time member of her P.E.O. Chapter ER and enjoyed the friendship of her sisters. In lieu of flowers, Janet has requested that memorial donations be sent either to CROS Ministries (crosministries.org), providing food services to local Palm Beach communities in need, or to the PEO International Peace Scholarship fund at (donations.peointernational.org/peo-donation-ips), which provides college scholarships for young women in need around the world.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home of West Palm Beach.
