Ways you can honor Susan's memory:
Susan, of RivieraBeach, died peacefully on January 2, 2021, in her home, with her son & husband, after a prolonged illness with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). She leaves her husband Dennis, son Matthew of Brooklyn, NY, and step-daughter Stephanie Minister (Mark) and her beloved granddaughter, Ellen of Norwell, MA. She is further survived by her brother Thomas Cavanaugh (Suzanne), sister Jane Ripley (Doug). She also leaves beloved 3 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Carol Cavanaugh and Thomas S. Cavanaugh, and her sister Barbara Hanna. Susan was raised in Brooklyn, NY & upstate New York with her parents, and siblings. She was a vivacious self starter who saw an opening and took it. Susan attended Ohio University and graduated with a bachelor degree in 1972. She started as a teacher out of college, but soon the corporate world called her. She started her career at Mobil Oil in 1974. She found her stride in the corporate world and achieved great success in senior roles in the Human Resources field. She went on to further her career at Digital Equipment, Fidelity Investments, and Textron. All in senior positions showing her ability to manage supporting large swaths of employees while keeping a tight P&L. Susan was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. And especially, the two loves of her life her son Matthew and husband Dennis. She & Dennis married less than a year after they went on their first date, over 33 years ago. Susan loved talking to her son Matthew a few times a week and learning about his career path and adventures in New York City. Susan also loved attending and watching professional sports, especially the Red Sox & New England Patriots. Summers in Massachusetts you knew she'd be at a few Red Sox games! She loved to celebrate Holidays & especially Christmas and always made Christmas Eve special for the little ones. Susan loved traveling and learning about new places around the world. Susan was extraordinarily generous, and would help her friends and especially family in any way she could. The George family are forever grateful to the in-home care they received these past months helping Susan feel safe & comfortable. Thank you also to the friends & family who kept a constant vigil on Susans well-being. A memorial service will be held for Susan in Florida in Spring 2021.
