Frances "Franny" Sauer passed to her next adventure peacefully on April 24, 2021, at her home.

She was born in Massillon, Ohio, the youngest of three children. She attended Grier School for Girls in Pennsylvaniawhich cemented her lifelong love of horses and riding. After graduating from college she worked briefly in social work, and then gravitated to teaching. Fran was ever mindful of those students with need of lunch or special attention.

Fran was married three times; one to get out of town, second for love and companionship, and the last to help out a couple of friends. She was a champion of dogs and adopted many over her long life. She did have a strong aversion to cats and blamed them for the decimation of other furry creatures and birds.

Her home had an open door policy and she was the finest listening ear, asking pertinent questions to dig deeper into one's life. Her memory of people's stories was demonstrated by her close relationships with any and all she came in contact. Her flip-top phone was constantly ringing or being used, with many visitors showing up for a week or two. Franny was the glue and magnet of the neighborhood and those lucky enough to be in her orbit.

Fran lived in AZ, OH, FL, Bahamas, Bermuda, and CA. She settled in her hometown to take care of her ailing mother for several years. After her mother passed in 1993 she maintained a small house in Massillon and one in West Palm Beach, the first real estate she had ever owned.

She had a strong connection with her fellow students of A Course in Miracles. Until Covid hit, they met at her home every Friday morning for decades.

She is survived by her sister Carolyn Cox, brother -in-law Ed Cox, and sister-in-law Ginger Sorg, and 4 nieces and one nephew. Having no children of her own allowed her to play an important role in her nieces' and nephews' lives. One of them even met her future husband flying out to see her Aunt Fran wherever she was living at the time!

There will be a memorial gathering later this year. If you wish to donate in her memory, there wasn't a charity she didn't like! A few of her favorites are Habitat for Humanity, Guide Dog for the Blind, and Environmental Defense Fund.

Fran indeed made this world a kinder, more generous place and those of us that were touched by her light and love can carry it forward in her memory.
