George Odum born in Deerfield Beach, FL on February 16, 1936, to Addie Bell and Charley Odum. He was the second eldest of four siblings. His family eventually moved to West Palm Beach (Pleasant City), FL; where his parents worked, acquired real estate and cultivated family businesses. He assisted with the family's multiple business endeavors and was deeply involved with the Pleasant City Community.
Becoming a businessman was inherent for him, his mother (Mrs. Addie Bell Odum) owned and operated the community store on AE Isaacs Avenue in Pleasant City where George was well known and assisted his mother with the day-to-day activities and the community. He also worked alongside his father and brother Willie Odum in business such as hospitality in owning and operating a local hotel and property management of rental properties owned throughout Pleasant City. George always had a business entrepreneurial mindset to work for no one other than himself and family. Throughout his younger years he traveled back and forth to New York for business ventures he lived life according to his terms.
He had a compassion for people in the community and was always willing to assist those in need. George attended his family's church St. John Missionary Baptist Church located in Pleasant City, FL. Early Thursday morning September 26, 2024, he transitioned into the Heavenly Fathers care.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Addie Bell and Charley Odum, brothers Willie (Carrie) Odum, and Reginald “Sonny” Odum. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his loving sister Ollie “Muttee” Odum; four children: son Michael (Angie) Odum, devoted daughters Debra (Andrew) Price, Crystal Odums, Bantannica Odums; six grandchildren: Michael Odum Jr, Areion Odum, Devin Wright, DeAndra (Ahmad) Newby, Amaree Leonard, Alyssa Robinson; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and an array of caring family and friends.
