Reverend William Dominick O'Shea

Reverend William Dominick O'Shea, born July 31, 1932, in Cork, Ireland, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at Lourdes Noreen McKeen Residence in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the age of 93.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy and Mary (McNamara) O'Shea; his brothers Donal, Timothy ("Teddy"), Vincent, and Dermot; his sister-in-law Kay; and his nephew Rory. He is survived by his brother Declan (Anzie); sisters-in-law Sheila and Marie; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Liam, Timmy, Brenda, Dennis, Sheila, Carmel, Oliver, Emer, Paul, Mary, Collette, Vincent, and Cara, along with his grand-nephews and grand-nieces, extended relatives, dear friends, and countless former parishioners-many of who lovingly considered him part of their family.

 

Father O'Shea was ordained to the priesthood on June 10, 1962, and devoted more than six decades to faithful pastoral service. He served as Assistant Pastor at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Miami Beach (1962-1968), and as Pastor at St. Mark, Boynton Beach (1968-1972), Holy Rosary, Perrine (1972-1983), and St. Clare Catholic Church, North Palm Beach (1983-2023).

 

Throughout his ministry, Father O'Shea served his parish and school communities with unwavering faith, compassion, and love, providing spiritual guidance and pastoral care to generations of families. His life was marked by humility, dedication, and a deep devotion to Christ and His Church. In recognition of his extraordinary service, the Village of North Palm Beach issued a proclamation on June 9, 2022, honoring the 60th anniversary of his ordination and thanking him for providing hope and inspiration to countless members of the congregation and the wider community.

 

The Vigil for the deceased will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408, on Sunday evening, February 1, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at St. Clare Catholic Church.

 

Burial will take place in the family plot at St. Finbarr's Cemetery, Glasheen Road, Cork, Ireland, to be preceded by a Mass for the Dead at St. Patrick's Church, Rochestown Road, Cork, Ireland.
