Joy was born June 17, 1937, in Oneida, NY, the oldest of the eight children of Justin Chapman and Emily Niles. Unfortunate circumstances led to the children being placed separately in foster care.
Her oldest brother John, upon his marriage, sought out and found his siblings and they remain a close-knit band.
Joy had two daughters, Tammy and Tina with husband Tom Gorup in Chicago, Illinois.
She returned to Oneida with her daughters, where she met and married Frank Zaleski. Together they had two children Edward and Eileen.
Joy worked 20 years for Oneida Silverware in Inside Sales to Commercial Accounts.
Upon the passing of her daughter Tammy, she moved to Florida and raised her grandchildren Alan and Aubri and setting roots in the community working for Martin Medical in Stuart, Florida.
Joy was a published author of 2 books, “Heartfelt Obligations” and “Her Bed Has Been Shaking Again”, as well as a collection of poetry entitled “The Book of Rhymes”.
She met John Sinkeldam of Singer Island, Florida and married in 2009. They enjoyed travelling together to see family and friends all over the United States and Europe.
Joy’s smile and love for others was apparent to all that knew her. Her biggest Joy was her five Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Prosper Health and Memory Care for their excellent care for Joy over the past year.
Joy Blessed all the people she knew, and We Thank God for putting Her into our Lives and Hearts!
