Kenneth Warren Koppel, 87, loving husband and father of two children, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2019 at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Kenneth was born on May 16, 1932 in Perth Amboy, NJ to Jean Freeman and Arthur Koppel. A skilled visual artist, he graduated from Pratt Institute and earned a master's degree from Columbia University. Following his military service, he accepted the position of art teacher at the opening of the East Brunswick High School, NJ. In 1963 Kenneth was appointed Supervisor of Art and Humanities. For 35 years he stewarded arts education for teachers and thousands of students in East Brunswick Schools. Kenneth also taught at Kean College and served for many years as President of the New Jersey Arts Supervisors Association.

A devotee of Gustav Mahler, Kenneth was a classical music enthusiast and combined this passion with volunteering as a decades-long usher at Tanglewood Music Center and Jacob's Pillow in Massachusetts. Kenneth and his devoted wife of 56 years, Judith Strauss Koppel traveled extensively and loved animals. Kenneth was an avid table tennis player and was the President of the Monroe Township Table Tennis Association.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister Adele Roth. He is survived by his loving wife Judith, his daughters Leslie Koppel and Diana Horan, son-in-law Joseph Horan and Steve Hancock, and five dear grandchildren Jacob, Remi, Averi, Alyse and Jack and his brother Jeff Koppel. The family is grateful to the Veterans Administration, ALS Association and aids Ivy and Tami that cared for him with his wife as Lou Gehrig's Disease progressed.

The family will be sitting Shiva on Wednesday, June 13th at 9124 Bay Harbour Circle, West Palm Beach, FL 33411. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ACLU to advance civil liberties.
