Claudia Deprez, age 73, died peacefully on November 10, 2022, in Hospice careat the home of her daughter, Jeny Lyn in Flagstaff, AZ. Claudia is also survived by herson, Scott Addlesberger and husband, John Vogeley, both of West Palm Beach, hergrandson, Cody Bills of Flagstaff AZ, stepsister Debbie Rathe, of Leesburg, FL andhalf-brother Gary James Peters of Palm Coast, FL. She was predeceased by her infantson, Randy Michael Addlesberger and her parents, James Hubert Peters and LianeDelores Deprez. Claudia also had many “rent-a-kids” over the years that she loved.Claudia was also the loving and devoted human of many precious cats during herlifetime, too numerous to name them all here as well as grandma to many cats anddogs.Born December 17, 1948, in Miami, Florida, Claudia moved to Palm BeachCounty as a young adult to pursue her career as a real estate professional. In 1982,Claudia formed Florida Singles Real Estate, Inc., with the goal of making buying andselling real estate more accessible for singles. As a real estate broker regularlyachieving over Five Million Dollars in annual sales, Claudia spent the last 17 years ofher real estate career as President of The Deprez Team and Vice President ofIllustrated Properties in West Palm Beach. She held realtor certifications includingCRS, CRB, CIPS, and taught and mentored dozens of agents in Palm Beach County,around the U.S. and overseas. She was named Realtor of the Year in 1991.Claudia concentrated most of her real estate efforts in the Northend of the City ofWest Palm Beach. When areas of Northwood became overrun with drugs andprostitutes, Claudia formed the Northend Coalition of Neighborhoods (NCON). Shespearheaded anti-drug marches on Friday and Saturday nights and hosted a picnic forthe neighborhoods on Saturdays. Claudia believed that the neighborhoods had to bepart of the solution and not just the sole responsibility of the city.In March 2002, Mayor Joel Daves recognized her commitment to improving theten Northwood neighborhoods by giving Claudia the Mayor’s Palm Award. InSeptember 2003, the National Association of Realtors honored Claudia with the NARGood Neighbor Award.Claudia also received the first State of Florida Association of RealtorsCommunity Service Award in 2001 for her work in revitalizing the Northendneighborhoods. For 17 years, she served on the Crossroad's Advisory board at PalmBeach Community College, a state funded program, “Women Beginning Again,” bothserving on the board and mentoring displaced homemakers.In addition to her 40-plus years of community service, Claudia inspired countlessothers with her approach to surviving cancer. Diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancerin September 2003, most medical professionals considered her illness terminal.Claudia became her own health advocate, learning everything she could about cancergenerally, and ovarian cancer specifically, doing everything she could to build up herimmune system and striving to live as stress-free as possible. Her efforts led to 19years of survival, none of which were promised at the time of her diagnosis.
A celebration of Claudia’s life will be held at Northwood Funeral Home, 5608Broadway, West Palm Beach, on Saturday, December 17, 2022 @ 11am. A zoom linkwill be posted on the funeral home’s website for those who cannot attend. In lieu offlowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s ResearchHospital or Alley Cat Allies. Claudia would love it if you wore happy colors and no black(Unless, of course, it’s your favorite color!).
