Donald R. Comer, with his clear blue eyes and easy smile, brought joy to all those fortunate enough to know him. More than anything he loved his family and being with his family and friends. Don passed on October 21, 2021 from natural causes.

Born on April 30, 1930 to Josephine and Peter J. Comer in Endicott, N.Y., Don attended Union-Endicott High School and then joined the U.S. Army; attended St. John’s University, and worked for the N.Y. Telephone Company, which he affectionately referred to as Ma Bell.

Along this journey, Don met Helen J. Dibs, whom he happily wed on January 5, 1952. They moved to N. Massapequa and had three children - Robert Donald, Elyse Dawn and Dawn Marie. Not a night passed that he didn’t kiss each child goodnight by their bedside.

After successful careers, Don and Helen moved to Boynton Beach, Florida and continued their social lifestyle. They enjoyed tennis, golf and their friendships. As a member of Aberdeen Country Club, Don was elected to several Association boards.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife and life companion, Helen Comer; his children and their spouses Robert and Susann Comer, Gina (né Elyse) and Gerard Borelli, and Dawn and Joseph Del Rossi. Donald loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly, and is survived by Christine and Eric Armstrong and soon to arrive Charlie; Josh and Taylor Davis, Joseph Del Rossi, Jessica Del Rossi, Mario, Michelle, Sage and Kaia Garcia, and Nicole and Brian Silver.

Don was a perennial optimist, a gentleman and a truly kind man. We love you dearly and will miss you. Until we meet again…

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Peter Truong presiding. A visitation will be held in the church from 11:00 AM until mass time.
