In Loving Memory of George A. McDonough
George A. McDonough, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 91 on September 26, 2024. Born on November 29, 1932, in Albany, NY, he proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, graduated from the University of Florida and was a 4th Degree honorary member of the Knights of Columbus #4999. George dedicated 30 years of his career as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney and was a faithful parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church.
George is deeply missed by his loving wife, Janet, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years. He was predeceased by his parents, William Drislane McDonough and Marian A. McDonough, as well as his brothers, William (Nancy) and Peter (Jane), and his sister-in-law, Carolyn. He is survived by his brother, David McDonough. George had six children: Pamela McDonough Bell, Gregory (Claudia), Kevin (Linda), Lisa McDonough DeFreitas (Rick), Stephen (Christina), and Brian (Jennifer). He leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Morgan and Paula Bell; Hannah (William) and Madison; Mark (Angel) and Michael (Kirstin); Ryan (Lilly), Brendan and Erin Fink; Sean, Liam, and Kyle; and William and Caroline, along with 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Clare Church in North Palm Beach on October 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Clare School in North Palm Beach or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
