Mary Sowell Baldwin, 78, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018, at her residence in Palm Beach Gardens. Mary was born at Good Samaritan Hospital, in West Palm Beach, on September 11, 1939, the daughter of Charles Lindsey and Mary Brown Sowell. Mary graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1957, then went on to studies at Stephens College in Missouri for two years, ultimately graduating from the University of Florida in 1961. There, she was part of the Tri Delt Sorority. She is survived by her husband, George W. Baldwin; son, Wally Baldwin; daughter, Amy Osteen; son-in-law, Scott Osteen;daughter-in-law, Zowe Renteria Baldwin; grandchildren, Parker Scott Osteen and Lindsey Caroline Osteen; sister-in-law, JoAnn Smith; nephew, David Smith; and first cousins, Lewis Sowell, Jr., Tom Brown, Gingy Schulz, Mary Edith Brown Jackson, Shirley Brown, and Gail Brown Henderson. Mary was a High School English teacher before getting married, then briefly sold Real Estate in her later years. She also was an assistant to the village clerk in the Village of North Palm Beach. She enjoyed being a sustainer with the Palm Beach Junior League for many years. She was a stay-at-home mom most of her years, and loved being with family and friends. She loved her tennis, golf, and Florida Gator football games! She will be forever loved, missed, and remembered by family and friends for her kindness, warmth, humor, and incredible generosity-especially to those in need. Heaven has truly been blessed with an angel! A family graveside service was held yesterday at Woodlawn Cemetery in West Palm Beach, where she was laid to rest beside her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's name to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, or the Center for Great Apes in Wachula, Florida.
