Ways you can honor Nancy's memory:
Nancy Boone grew up in Colorado with her adopted parents William and Maude Baker. While attending college she met Lewis Boone on a blind double date with her room mate. Lewis was in the US Air Force and after a year of dating they married. Life in the military was full of highs and lows, some of which included times away from each other when Lewis had to serve in war zones. After almost four years of marriage they had a daughter, Cheryl. Nancy and her family lived many years overseas in Taiwan and the Philippines as well as many states in the US.
While Lewis served in the military Nancy worked on base as a highly regarded secretary to several base commanders as well as Judge Advocate Generals. She enjoyed this work but art was her passion.
Nancy learned to sew before she was eight-years-old and she was a multiple award winning quilter. One of her great joys was to make a personalized baby quilt for each new family member. She also ran her own catering company for many years.
She was incredibly philanthropic with her money and her time to several organizations that helped crippled children, Vietnam Veterans, victims of domestic violence, as well as volunteering for several years at an elementary school, and making lap quilts for VA hospital patients. She also worked on several political campaigns locally and nationally.
Nancy was a member of Daughters of the Nile and Eastern Star. She was founding member of Daughters of the Nile, Aquarius Temple in West Palm Beach, Florida where she was very active in raising money for crippled children.
She loved fiercely and cared deeply for others. Children and adults called her Mama because she was motherly to everyone.
After loosing her husband of 32 years to cancer, Nancy and some of her female friends went on more than 20 cruises as she visited many foreign ports. She had a brilliant sense of humor and actually created her own stand-up routine for amateur hour aboard cruise ships.
She lived a life filled with adventures and passion that many would envy.
Nancy is survived by her brother Scott Rasmussen, her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law William her grandson Jared and his wife Ashley, her great granddaughter Isabella, her step grandson Matthew, his wife Nicole and their children Samara, Micah, Ellie and Tirzah Walters as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services were held on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Memory Gardens, Lake Worth.
