Carmen I Wellington passed from this life Sunday, March 5, in Atlantis, Florida at the age of 85 years. Carmen will forever be missed by all her loved ones and she will always occupy a space in their hearts. 

Carmen came to the United States as a young woman in 1967 at thirty years of age. She lived in a families home in Boonton, New Jersey caring for a couple and their children which made her eligible to get her Green Card and become a permanent resident. During the weekends Carmen would often travel home to be with family. After a short time Carmen secured a job at JFK Hospital in Edison, New Jersey, she cleaned homes during the day and worked at the hospital at night. With hard work and determination Carmen was able to sponsor her children coming to America in 1973. 

Her hard work ethics and determination also allowed her to help others come to America. She moved to Florida in 2012, where she continued working part time caring for the elderly. At eight five years of age with ailing lungs she would often talk about going back to work, she loved working and having a purpose. Carmen loved life, she lived life well and lived life hard, her hobbies included singing and dancing. Carmen was very committed to her personal relationship with Christ, she would often share, that she gave her life to Christ as a young girl at a city church in Jamaica. Carmen was a no nonsense person and she loved whom she loved in her family. She was a giver and gave much to others, she was the matriarch of  the family, a self made millionaire with an 8th grade education who achieved so much in life. 

Carmen will be greatly missed by many, may her soul rest in peace...
