Ralph C. Guild, "Mr. Radio", legendary radio broadcaster, owner, creator, died peacefully in his residence, on November 1, 2021, with his family by his side. Ralph was born on September 11, 1928, in Oakland, California, the son of Chester and Gertrude Mc Innis Guild. At an early age, Ralph knew he wanted to devote his life to radio. In the 1950's, Ralph joined McGavern Radio, a radio advertising rep firm based in San Franciso. Very shortly after joining the firm, he opened the company's first east coast office in New York. The company was re-named McGavern Guild, and Mr. Guild was named President and Chief Operating Officer. In 1981, Mr. Guild created Interep Radio. In 1986, under Ralph's stewardship, Interep launched Group W. Radio Sales, which ultimately became CBS Radio Sales. Other dedicated rep companies created by Interep include ABC Radio Sales. In the early 1990's, Interep implemented Radio 2000, and in the late 1990's formed Interep Interactive, an online advertising and streaming media division. Interep Interactive then merged with Cybereps, a premium online ad sales and marketing firm, to form the first interactive marketing and integrated media sales and web publishing company. Over the years, to stay with the times, Ralph was known for re-inventing his business several times. His employees were loyal because he was always watching out for them. He had constant innovation through his willingness to listen to outside experts who knew things he did not know; a trait only found in a giant of a man of his industry. As a result, his training meetings for his team were legendary. He brought them, and radio, his best. He never followed the corporate mold. He chased what he loved. He was passionate about radio; an artist; a non-conformist. He admired Howard Stern, his innovation, and what he did for Radio. Anyone doing radio, he was their biggest fan. Ralph was often referred to as radio's biggest cheerleader. He commissioned experts, research teams, and anything he could to help radio get its fair share of dollars. And although he, and his clients, profited greatly, so too did all of radio. Ralph's list of charities and philanthropic endeavors include: Trustee of the University of the Pacific, where he received an honorary doctorate degree from the University; Trustee of the Paley Center for Media in New York and Los Angeles; member of the Board of Trustees of the Brubeck Institute Broadcasting Foundation; philanthropist with Palm Beach Drama Works; board member of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation. Ralph has also been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, and the Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago. He was an International Radio and Television Society's 2001 Gold Medal recipient, and a producer/investor in Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including The History Boys, which won the Tony Award for Best Play of the Year.

Ralph is survived by the love-of-his-life for 73 years, Calla. They met while she was singing on stage-preparing for her role of Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Back then, Ralph had a love for music and Broadway, and soon, for Calla, as well. He admitted that he would sneak into rehearsals and listen to his future wife sing. "I would sit in the auditorium and just watch her," said Ralph. Also surviving are his four children; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ralph Guild did it right. And the delight he brought to every moment; to his wife; his family; his friends and associates, past and present, illuminated the world for all of them. His indomitable passion for life, family, love of music and community will be missed by all.
